Plantar fasciitis women's dress shoes

They warn that flat shoes can be as bad as high heels. Their big problem: they cause the foot to stretch too much, causing a condition called plantar fasciitis.

When it comes to shoes, Spring is a difficult season. Sometimes it is too cold to wear sandals and others, too hot to wear boots. That is why ballerinas have become an excellent option for many women, better still if they are flat and allow the feet rest. However, according to doctors, flat shoes are not as beneficial to health as is believed, and in fact, can cause as many or more problems as do the criticized high heels. "If you wear it for a long time, the abrupt change (to flat shoe) produces as a decompensation and causes it to start to hurt," explains Fernando Larraguibel, specialist spine traumatologist. To understand what this condition, it is necessary to know that the muscles of the feet are cover by a membrane called plantar fascia, which when inflamed contracts and shortens, giving rise to pain that felt especially in the area of the heel. "The pain increases when walking, and once it is an installer, it is practically permanent," says the specialist. The discomfort caused by plantar fasciitis is so characteristic that a traumatologist could diagnose it only by conducting physical examinations of patients.

However, echotomography usually required to demonstrate the soft parts of the foot-fascia, tendons, and muscles and an x-ray. Fernando Larraguibel explains that the pain caused by plantar fasciitis 's hard to eliminate, so it is necessary to perform a treatment that includes anti-inflammatories for a limited period, which can be supplement with ultrasound, ultra thermic or hydrotherapy, and stretching exercises area. Also, if the traumatologist detects an anomaly in the arch of the foot, he or she must prescribe the use of orthopedic insoles to prevent the plantar fascia from continuing to work in tension. "With these measures, 90% of patients can be the controller," says the doctor. The specialist adds that flat shoes can also cause back pain, as lowering the heel modifies the work of leg muscles, which in turn has effects on the pelvis and thence in the spine. "There is a general mess," he says. For this reason - and since she knows that women will not stop wearing flat shoes, just as they have not left the heels despite the problems they generate - the traumatologist recommends to change from high to low in a gradual way.

"For a start, the heel slightly raised, is, to give one or two inches high so that the body starts to get used to these conditions again and fascia are not so tight," he said. Another tip to avoid plantar fasciitis and another discomfort is to elongate the sole, even if there is no pain, and strengthen the muscles. "Stretching consists of carrying the foot backward and thus preventing the fascia from shortening," he explains. Also, Fernando Larraguibel suggests not always to wear the same footwear, but to alternate between the con tacos and the plans. Meanwhile, other specialists have recommended to incorporate to the shoes some template - of silicone, for example -, that of support to the arc and reduce the pressure in the sensitive areas. This because another characteristic of flat shoes is that it does not provide adequate shock absorption or shock absorption for the body, so much so that some have compared them to "walking on a carton."
